Responsibilities
- Administers ionizing irradiation to patients in accordance with prescriptions and instructions from department physicians.
- Sets up patients, positions immobilization devices, and confirms alignment per protocol.
- Operates radiotherapy equipment, verifies dosimetry, and ensures appropriate shielding and safety measures.
- Monitors patient safety during treatment and adheres to radiation safety, infection control, and PPE guidelines.
- Documents treatments, updates patient records, and communicates with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and physicists as needed.
- Performs routine quality assurance checks on equipment and participates in chart review and treatment verification tasks.
Requirements
- Current licensure or eligibility to practice radiation therapy in California.
- Certification in radiation therapy or ARRT certification or equivalent, as required.
- Education: Associate’s degree or higher in Radiation Therapy or a related field.
- Experience: Radiation therapy experience preferred; not required if otherwise supervised or eligible.
- Ability to work in an acute care setting and follow prescriptions and instructions from department physicians.
- Strong communication, patient care, and teamwork skills; commitment to safety and quality.
