Registered Nurse – PCU in San Luis Obispo, California. Start date 09/14/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $1,962-$2,075. Guaranteed hours: 36 per week. Shift: Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM–7:30 AM). Setting: Short-Term Acute Care Hospital in a progressive/step-down unit.

Responsibilities
- Plan and provide nursing care to patients in the PCU, including assessments, medication administration, IV therapy, and care of indwelling catheters and drains.
- Accurately interpret ECG rhythms and manage care during life-threatening emergencies.
- Verify alarms and collaborate with monitors staff to ensure patient safety; respond promptly to changes in condition.
- Care for post-procedure patients (e.g., coronary interventions) and patients with cardiac devices, including femoral sheath management when indicated and use of Femostop device.
- Supervise and delegate appropriate tasks to ancillary personnel in accordance with scope of practice; adhere to chain of command.
- Maintain flexibility to float to related units (e.g., medical-surgical) if needed to meet patient care needs.
Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in the state of practice (California). Basic Life Support (BLS) from an approved vendor. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from an approved vendor.
- Certifications: NIHSS certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: At least 2 years of recent nursing experience; 6 months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience preferred.
- Additional: Ability to work in a fast-paced PCU setting and to float to related units as needed.
