Travel Registered Nurse PACU Job
Registered Nurse – PACU, traveling assignment in Hilo, Hawaii, starts 07/27/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay ranges from $1,839 to $2,012 per week with no guaranteed hours. Shifts are rotating across 8-, 10-, and 12-hour options in a hospital setting, including ASU and PACU coverage. A Hawaii RN license and active status by start date are required.

Responsibilities
- Provide care for patients in pre-op, and during Phase I and Phase II recovery within the post-anesthesia care setting
- Assess incision sites, monitor body temperature, vital signs, and other indicators of stability or potential complications
- Recognize changes in patient status and escalate to the anesthesia or surgical team as needed
- manage pain control, fluid balance, and patient safety, preparing for transfer or discharge from PACU
- Utilize unit equipment and systems, including Meditech, PCA pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS warmers, and cardiac/monitoring devices
- Document care accurately in the patient record and coordinate with multidisciplinary team members
Requirements
- Active Hawaii RN license by start date (travelers not in possession must apply upon offer and obtain license by start)
- BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended and may be required for some positions; NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred or may be required for specific roles
- 2+ years of critical care RN experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting; may be substituted for PACU experience
- Ability to work in a PACU/ASU environment; strong critical thinking and rapid assessment skills
- Proof of flu vaccination or facility-approved medical/religious exception required prior to contract start; vaccination can be completed during employee health clearance
- Must arrive the Thursday before start to participate in health clearance
- Demonstrated ability to work across rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends
