Registered Nurse – Emergency Department, San Luis Obispo, California. Start date: 08/17/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Pay: $1,682–$1,830 per week. Guaranteed hours: 36 per week. Shift: Night shift, 3x12s (7:00 PM–7:30 AM). Setting: Short term acute care hospital ED. This is a travel temporary assignment.

Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care in the Emergency Department, including triage, treatment, and discharge planning for patients from newborns to geriatrics.
- Perform accurate triage assessment and communicate abnormal findings to the ED physician; review and document orders promptly.
- Administer medications and IV therapy, manage indwelling catheters and drains, and operate routine ED equipment safely.
- Teach patients and families about medication effects and discharge instructions; document instructions clearly.
- Recognize signs of cardiac or respiratory distress and initiate appropriate interventions; respond to life-threatening emergencies and activate appropriate codes.
- Interpret ECG rhythms, monitor patient status, and participate in Code Blue, Code Stroke, Sepsis, and Trauma Activations.
- Maintain legible, timely documentation in the electronic health record; follow the unit’s chain of command and policies.

Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice (California).
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: Minimum two years of recent nursing experience; at least one year of acute care experience; strong emphasis on ED or similar high-acuity environments.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 6 months of hire or transfer; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; EPIC electronic health record experience.
- Additional: Ability to work the listed night shift and maintain composure in a fast-paced setting.
