Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for newborns, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in the ED, including triage, assessment, and ongoing monitoring.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions for common ED presentations such as stroke, sepsis, trauma, MI, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure; administer medications and treatments per physician orders.
- Utilize EPIC for documentation, orders, and communication; coordinate with physicians, case management, social work, and ancillary services to ensure efficient patient flow and disposition.
- Assist with procedures, rapid assessment units, and utilization of ED equipment such as rapid infusers and temperature management devices as appropriate.
- Maintain patient safety, infection control, and accurate vital signs monitoring; respond to code events and participate in alarm management, patient transport, and handoffs at shift change.
- Adapt to floating within ED areas as needed to support staffing and patient care delivery; communicate changes in patient status to the care team.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license (NURSYS verification required) and all RN licenses current
- Minimum 2+ years of ED experience; some pediatric exposure preferred
- Travel experience required; documentation of prior assignments preferred
- Certifications: AHA ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC (TNCC must be in hand)
- EMR experience: EPIC
- Current driver’s license with address matching demographics; ability to meet RTO requests included at submission
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment across age groups (neonatal to geriatric) and to float to cover unit needs
