Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the health care team using evidence-based practice to ensure safe, optimal outcomes for obstetric patients and newborns.
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members and families to promote continuity of care.
- Direct the work of support staff in the provision of nursing care within the L&D setting.
- Perform general nursing duties with critical thinking and minimal supervision, adapting to obstetric-related needs.
- Provide age-appropriate care for obstetric patients and newborns, documenting interventions and patient responses.
- Uphold professional standards, maintain accurate charting, and contribute to a positive, patient-centered environment.
Requirements
- Active Iowa Registered Nurse license in good standing.
- BSN preferred; graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Current American Heart Association HeartCode BLS required; new employees certify within three months of hire.
- Current ACLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications (per Education Course Requirements policy).
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; strong empathetic listening, tact, and teamwork.
- Basic computer literacy and solid nursing judgment; ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
