Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult medical-surgical patients with neuro needs, including routine neuro assessments and monitoring.
- Administer prescribed medications, manage IV therapies, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Perform NIHSS assessments as part of neuro patient evaluations and document findings in the electronic medical record.
- Document care accurately and timely in EPIC EMR; communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and case management to coordinate care and discharge planning; ensure patient safety and education for patients and families.
Requirements
- Active RN license with Nursys verification
- NIHSS certification in CV packet required to be considered
- EPIC EMR experience is required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in neuroscience or neuro-focused medical-surgical/step-down settings
- ACLS certification preferred or strong neuro/med-surg experience with NIHSS and some step-down exposure may be considered
