Overview
Position: Registered Nurse, PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) in Rochester, New York. This is a travel, temporary assignment starting August 17, 2026, for multiple weeks. Weekly pay ranges from $2,019 to $2,218, with no guaranteed hours. Shift: 4x10-hour days. Setting: short-term acute care teaching hospital with a 27-bed PACU. Unit focuses on Phase I & II recovery with exposure to adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients and a common case mix including endo/laparoscopic procedures, general surgery, orthopedics (spine, total joints), plastics, ENT, and urology.

Responsibilities
- Provide Phase I and Phase II PACU care for adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics, including post-anesthesia assessment and discharge planning
- Monitor vital signs, airway, breathing, and circulation; manage pain control, PCA where appropriate, and basic airway management
- Document postoperative status and interventions in the electronic chart (Epic) and contribute to patient handoffs to the floor or recovery unit
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teammates (IV team, PT,Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, Interpretation services, Unit Secretary) to ensure safe and efficient recovery
- Support perioperative processes such as PCA management, MAC cases, and rapid response as needed; assist with basic post-anesthesia discharge criteria
- Maintain competency in phlebotomy and IV starts; participate in ongoing unit activities and adhere to safety and infection control standards
- At times, float to other units as assigned and adhere to the unit’s patient ratio and safety expectations

Requirements
- Active NY RN license in hand at time of submittal
- Minimum 1 year RN experience; first-time travelers accepted
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
- Mandatory skills: competency in phlebotomy and IV starts
- Epic experience required (hard requirement)
- Ability to float to other units as needed; comfortable with 1:3 patient ratio on the PACU unit
- Start date: 08/17/2026
- Local candidates: Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility
