Responsibilities
- Deliver prescribed radiotherapy using treatment plans and equipment according to physician orders and established standards.
- Obtain patient history, answer questions, explain procedures, and monitor for adverse reactions during treatment.
- Schedule treatments and interface with the physicist at treatment initiation; collaborate with nurses and social workers to coordinate care.
- Verify prescriptions, diagnoses, chart accuracy, and patient identification to ensure correct treatments; document results and progress.
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment; position patients with immobilization devices; manage catheters, IVs, oxygen, and other life-support considerations as needed.
- Perform port film exposures and apply any physician-directed changes to therapy; support ongoing professional development and quality improvement.
- Reinforce post-treatment care guidance and address patient questions regarding side effects and aftercare.
Requirements
- Ohio state license as Radiation Therapist (active)
- ARRT certification/licensure in Radiation Therapy
- CPR certification
- Education: Associate degree in Radiography with Radiation Therapy certification; ARRT-eligible/registered; JRCERT-accredited program; Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy preferred
- Experience: 1–2 years of radiation therapy experience preferred
- Ability to work in a hospital-based radiation therapy department and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
