Travel Registered Nurse PACU Job
Registered Nurse – PACU in Hilo, HI. Start date: 05/04/2026 for a 13-week travel assignment. Weekly pay ranges from $1,920 to $1,982. No guaranteed hours. Rotating shifts in an acute care PACU setting. This assignment requires Hawaii state licensure by start date and involves care for patients in pre-op, Phase I and Phase II recovery, with on-call possibilities.

Responsibilities
- Provide care to patients in the PACU during pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery, monitoring stability and recovery progress.
- Assess and respond to vital signs, pain control needs, airway status, and potential complications; implement appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams; communicate patient status and discharge criteria; document findings and care provided.
- Manage equipment and protocols in the unit (monitors, infusion pumps, PCA, SCDs, warming devices) and support safe medication administration and discharge planning.
- Maintain patient safety and comfort through evidence-based PACU nursing care and appropriate patient and family education.
Requirements
- Hawaii Licensed Registered Nurse (active) by start date.
- BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended and may be required for specific assignments; other certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) may be required for certain PACU roles.
- Minimum 2+ years of critical care RN experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting; may substitute for PACU experience in some cases.
- Ability to work in a PACU/acute care setting; strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Proof of flu vaccination or facility-approved exception (medical or religious) required prior to contract start; flu vaccine can be administered during employee health clearance.
- Hawaii license in-hand by start date; if not yet licensed, applicants without Hawaii licensure will not be considered.
- Must arrive the Thursday before start date for health clearance appointments.
