Responsibilities
- Deliver direct, evidence-based nursing care to ED patients across the age spectrum per unit guidelines and medical plan of care.
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement plans of care, and evaluate patient responses in collaboration with physicians and the health care team.
- Triage, treat and support patients presenting with a wide range of emergencies; manage trauma and time-sensitive conditions as needed.
- Administer medications, monitor patient responses, document care in the electronic medical record, and reassess frequently.
- Coordinate discharge planning and provide patient/family teaching to support safe transitions of care.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to nursing assistants and other staff based on current competence and scope of practice; participate in team communication to optimize throughput and patient safety.
- This position is represented by a CNA and may involve collaboration with other care team members to ensure timely, efficient patient care.
Requirements
- Active, unencumbered RN license in California
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- 1+ year of ER/ED nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work nights on a 3x12-hour schedule in an ED setting
- Comfort caring for patients of all ages (neonatal to geriatric) and handling high-acuity, fast-paced emergencies
- Ability to complete credentialing/background checks and comply with assignment onboarding requirements
