Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg (Travel) in Saratoga Springs, NY. Start date 05/04/2026 for a weeks-long travel assignment in a hospital setting on a Med Surg unit with central telemetry monitoring. Weekly pay ranges from $2,001 to $2,115, with no guaranteed hours. Shift is 3x12 Nights. Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult and geriatric Med Surg patients, including those with pulmonary, infectious disease, oncology, and post-surgical needs
- Monitor and respond to patient conditions with centralized remote telemetry; participate in rapid response and codes as appropriate
- Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and perform basic nursing procedures in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
- Perform ongoing assessments, wound care, isolation precautions, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway management
- Document care and outcomes in EPIC; coordinate with PT, Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, and other services; support discharge planning
- Maintain patient safety and quality of care, including end-of-life comfort measures when indicated
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required at time of submission (recent Nursys verification)
- Minimum 2 years’ acute hospital Med Surg experience; prior travel nursing experience required
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Relias EKG exam required within 72 hours of signing; 100% score expected on initial attempt; onsite EKG testing requires 85% with correct rhythm identification; remediation/retest policies apply
- Charting system: EPIC (EMR) experience required
- Flu vaccine required if start on/after 12/5; COVID-19 vaccine not required; medical/religious exemptions must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to start
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Must complete HealthStream modules by 7 a.m. the Wednesday prior to start (exceptions for TB testing and Stroke policy noted in orientation checklist)
- Willingness to float within scope of practice and at the manager’s discretion; weekend coverage required
- Submission materials: NY license, recent Nursys, certifications, SSN/DOB, and references
- Local radius restriction: Candidates with permanent address within 50 miles of Saratoga not accepted
- County exclusions apply as listed in job notes
