Responsibilities
- Process, embed, cut, and stain surgical and autopsy tissue for microscopic evaluation
- Prepare and stain cytopathology specimens according to established procedures
- Manage tissue handling to ensure accurate microscopic sectioning for Pathologist review
- Document and maintain supplies, instruments, and equipment; ensure proper workflow and traceability
- Perform specialized, selective histology techniques as required for diagnostic purposes
- Participate in the Quality Assurance program and uphold quality and safety standards
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor of Science in medical technology, biology, and chemistry or HTL certification from a recognized agency
- License: Histotechnician NY State license (AAS) required
- Certification: HTL certification from a recognized agency
- Experience: Histology laboratory experience is required
- Ability to work in a hospital laboratory environment and to fulfill an 8x5 day shift schedule
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to established policies and procedures
