Travel Occupational Therapist Acute Care Job
Occupational Therapist | Acute Care | Kealakekua, Hawaii, United States. This travel assignment is a 26-week inpatient acute-care role beginning around 05/18/2026, with a dayshift schedule and 36-40 hours per week. Weekly pay ranges from $2,245 to $2,306. Start date is contingent on passing an Epic test. The role is split between two acute-care locations on the island, with a 3-day/2-day-per-week pattern (or vice versa) and one weekend day included, with flexibility.

Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive OT evaluations for adult inpatients in acute care and develop individualized plans of care to address ADLs, mobility, upper-extremity function, cognition, and safety.
- Implement evidence-based OT interventions, document progress, and modify plans of care in response to patient response and discharge goals.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (nursing, physicians, case management, and therapy colleagues) to coordinate care and support smooth transitions to next care setting.
- Educate patients and families on therapy goals, home exercise programs, safety considerations, and adaptive equipment as appropriate.
- Accurately document treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge planning in the electronic health record; contribute to care coordination and patient education.
- Maintain adaptability to a two-site schedule, comply with hospital policies, infection control practices, and safety guidelines; participate in scheduling of weekend coverage as needed.
Requirements
- Active Occupational Therapist license in Hawaii (or eligibility, per state regulations)
- Degree from an accredited OT program (master’s or doctoral level)
- Experience in inpatient acute-care settings preferred; travel therapy experience welcome
- Ability to work days with flexible weekend coverage; willingness to travel between two facilities on the island
- Ability to complete Epic EMR training/test and document accordingly
