Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients across the age spectrum within an assigned Med Surg unit.
- Collaborate with the health care team to plan and coordinate patient care, ensuring alignment with established goals.
- Assess patient needs through ongoing data collection across physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive domains; address nutrition, pain, education, family involvement, and advocacy.
- Develop and adjust a goal-directed plan of care, prioritizing patient and family needs, and documenting updates clearly in the medical record.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the plan of care; involve patients in decision-making and ensure appropriate patient/family learning where applicable.
- Implement care safely and consistently; delegate tasks appropriately, participate in orientation and training activities, and support unit compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards. Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and participate in unit activities such as quality improvement and research as requested.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the health care team in a professional and patient-centered manner.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license to practice in California.
- Ability to perform professional nursing care in a Med Surg setting and coordinate care across disciplines.
- Proficiency in documentation within an electronic medical record system; strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to educate patients and families, and to collaborate with the health care team to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Availability to work 3x12-hour day shifts for an 8-week travel assignment; flexibility to adapt to unit needs.
- Compliance with organizational vaccination requirements and participation in required employment verification processes (e.g., E-Verify) as applicable.
