Responsibilities
- Deliver prescribed respiratory care to adult ICU and general inpatient units; manage mechanical ventilation and administer adjunct therapies as ordered.
- Monitor patient response, adjust airway pressures, oxygen delivery, and therapy to optimize clinical status; interpret arterial blood gases as needed.
- Perform procedures such as bronchodilator therapy, aerosolized medications, humidification, suctioning, and airway clearance, following protocol and physician orders.
- Document care and interventions in the electronic medical record (Epic) accurately and in a timely manner; communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in rounds and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff; respond to respiratory emergencies and assist with rapid assessments as required.
- Adhere to infection control practices; ensure equipment is cleaned, calibrated, and in good working order; manage on-call and weekend coverage as assigned.
Requirements
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP; NBRC verification; must be RRT (not CRT) and have an active credential on file at time of submission.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience; prior travel experience preferred; teaching hospital experience required; Epic experience within the past 2 years is required.
- Education: Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program; current RRT credential.
- Licenses: Active Respiratory Therapist license (RRT) on file at submission; ability to work in an inpatient hospital setting.
- Additional: Reliable transportation required due to limited public transit options; weekend work and scheduling flexibility required; no float requirement.
