Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to CICU patients, including post-operative cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery cases.
- Monitor hemodynamics and telemetry; manage arterial lines, temporary pacemakers, and other cardiac devices as applicable.
- Administer medications and therapies per protocol; respond to complications and deteriorations; apply AHA BLS and ACLS guidelines.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and update care plans; document assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
- Utilize specialized equipment (IABP, Impella, CRRT, epicardial pacemakers) and manage related lines and devices.
- Ensure patient safety, infection control, routine assessments, and family education; participate in code response and handoffs.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent CICU or equivalent high-acuity critical care experience
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- CCRN preferred
- Ability to work in a high-acuity CICU with a 20-bed unit
- No local candidates within 50 miles will be considered
