Responsibilities
- Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory therapy and adjust per department policy.
- Administer aerosolized therapies and oxygen therapy; monitor and document patient response.
- Provide care to adult and geriatric patients, including those on ventilatory support; manage ventilator settings as directed and assist with weaning as appropriate.
- Perform arterial blood gas draws per policy and physician orders; ensure timely processing and charting.
- Complete documentation in electronic medical records, maintain flow sheets, and assist with department records and charges; participate in training or supervision of new staff as delegated.
- Collaborate with the care team to support safe, evidence-based respiratory care while maintaining patient safety and infection control practices.
Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: California Respiratory Care Practitioner license; NBRC credentials (RRT or CRT) required; NBRC credentials accepted as part of eligibility.
- Certifications: Current BLS; ACLS; PALS; NRP certifications required by policy; PEARS preferred; NRP required.
- Experience: At least 2 years of recent critical care experience; strong comfort with adult and geriatric respiratory care; 3 years technical experience preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Additional: Current NBRC credential and the ability to work the listed night shift in a fast-paced acute care environment; no on-call obligations for this assignment.
- Location/Setting: Available to work in a hospital-based setting in Ukiah, CA.
