Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients in an observation unit, including assessments, monitoring, and interventions to determine need for admission versus safe discharge.
- Manage a fast-paced workflow with high patient turnover (approximately 20–27 patients per day) and coordinate with the care team.
- Monitor telemetry and respond to patient changes, including potential emergencies, while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
- Document assessments, vital signs, medications, and care plans in the electronic record per policy; communicate updates to physicians and the care team.
- Collaborate with a 24/7 provider coverage model to deliver timely decision-making and patient care.
- Support diverse patient needs, including observation patients and boarding patients requiring admission or discharge planning.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license
- Minimum two (2) years of Med/Surg experience
- Telemetry experience or competency required
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- ACLS certification (American Heart Association) required
- NIHSS preferred
