Responsibilities
- Administer the prescribed course of radiation therapy, verifying prescription, diagnosis chart, and patient identity.
- Explain procedures to the patient and ensure clear communication during treatment; maintain patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare treatment room and equipment per prescription, including immobilization devices; transfer patient to the treatment couch.
- Monitor patients for unusual reactions or developing complications; report observations to supervisor and department physician.
- Maintain daily treatment records and keep patient charts up to date; ensure blood counts and required reports are properly documented.
- Provide clinical supervision and evaluate students’ practical ability to perform procedures as assigned.
- Perform other job-related duties as needed.
Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy (AART-T) and Certification of Therapeutic Radiology Technology (RTT): Required
- ARRT Radiation Therapy certification (ARRT-T): Required
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred
- Experience: Experience in radiologic technology preferred
- Certifications: CPR or BLS (or equivalent) preferred
- Fluoroscopy permit from the state of practice: Preferred
- Ability to work in a day shift and in a hospital-based treatment environment
