Responsibilities
- Provide direct, patient-centered ED nursing care: triage, initial assessment, continuous monitoring, and timely response to clinical changes
- Administer medications, perform IV therapy, assist with procedures, and coordinate labs and imaging as ordered
- Implement chest pain and stroke protocols; monitor patients for signs of deterioration; participate in rapid assessment and intervention
- Manage admissions and transfers, including inpatient boarders, while maintaining throughput and patient flow
- Collaborate with physicians, specialty teams, and support staff to develop and execute care plans; document accurately in the chart and ensure compliance with policies
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized ED environment; uphold infection control, patient safety, and quality standards
Requirements
- Active RN license in Kansas or Multi-State license acceptable
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and Conscious Sedation Competency required
- Minimum 1 year of ED experience within the last 12 months; 2 years or more preferred
- Education: RN degree from an accredited program
- Ability to work in a high-volume ED with rotating day/evening shifts; available to work up to 3 weekend shifts per pay period
- Willingness to care for inpatient boarders and to adapt to a rapidly changing clinical environment
