Responsibilities
- Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation (assessment)
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues and identify expected outcomes
- Develop and implement a plan of care, with strategies to attain expected outcomes
- Provide patient and family education and collaborate with the care team to promote safety and health
- Circulate within the labor and delivery area; float to Mother Baby and other units as needed for safety coverage
Requirements
- Montana Licensure (Registered Nurse), active
- American Heart Association BLS certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider certification with recertification every 2 years
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring Series certificate of completion (or equivalent AWHONN-approved course) with FHM recertification every 2 years (not required if a Lactation RN)
- American Heart Association ACLS certification (not required if Lactation RN)
- Competence in modified primary nursing and two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease education
- If Lactation RN: Certification in lactation consulting/counseling (CLC, IBCLC)
- Preferred: One year of labor and delivery experience
