Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg travel assignment in Atlanta, GA. Start date 05/04/2026 for 8 weeks. Weekly pay range: $1,569-$1,634 per week. Guaranteed hours: 36 per week. Shift: Night, 2x3 schedule. Setting: hospital-based Med/Surg unit on a dedicated education unit where travel nurses will care for Med/Surg patients (not involved in educating).
This assignment focuses on patient care for a mixed Med/Surg population on a 30-bed unit with a patient-to-nurse ratio of about 5-6:1. The unit is a dedicated education environment where staff support and patient care are the primary priorities. The travel RN will be responsible for delivering evidence-based nursing care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during the shift.

Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess adult Med/Surg patients, including vital signs, pain, and neurological status
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor for adverse reactions
- Document care in the electronic medical record and communicate changes to the care team
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and other nurses to support discharge planning and transitions
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns as needed
- Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care
Requirements
- 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience in a hospital setting; level 1 trauma or mid-large hospital experience preferred
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Ability to work night shifts on a 2x3 schedule
- Comfortable nursing on a 30-bed Med/Surg unit with a 5-6:1 patient ratio
- Current eligibility for the appropriate nursing practice in the state (as applicable to the assignment)
