Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel) in Lincoln, Maine, United States. Start date 07/27/2026 for a 13-week assignment with guaranteed 36 hours per week. Shift: 7a–7p (12-hour shifts). Responsibilities
- Perform initial and ongoing age-appropriate nursing assessments; identify priorities for care
- Develop and implement plan of care based on patient needs and physician orders; administer medications with the five rights and med verification; monitor patient response
- Document patient care activities in the medical record and communicate status to the care team; participate in bedside rounding and MDT meetings
- Discharge planning: complete discharge assessment, educate patient and family, and coordinate follow-up as indicated
- Maintain a safe environment, ensure supplies and equipment are available, and report safety concerns promptly
- Contribute to quality improvement efforts and disaster preparedness as needed
Requirements
- Active Maine nursing license or compact-state license
- BSN preferred
- Certification: BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Immunizations: varicella (2 doses or titer), HepB (3 doses or titer or declination), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, PPD 2-step or titer within past 12 months; flu shot required during flu season; HepB declination allowed
- 7a–7p shift suitability and ability to work in a hospital setting
- Onboarding requirements: current may require W-9 and COI for workers’ compensation and liability coverage; ready to report to HR on day 1
- Knowledge and skills for nursing assessment, care planning, medication administration, and patient/family education across age groups
