Laboratory Technologist (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) – Kansas City, KS, US. This travel assignment starts June 14, 2026 and runs for 13 weeks in a clinical laboratory setting. Weekly pay ranges from $2,107 to $2,256, with no guaranteed weekly hours. The role follows a 5x8 Night shift schedule and includes training on dayshift for the first 3–4 weeks. Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized chemistry and hematology testing in a clinical laboratory, following established protocols and quality control procedures.
- Operate and maintain a range of instruments including Beckman automation line, AU 5800/680, DxH 900/800, DxI 800, Cobas e801, TOP720, ABL 825 FLEX, Iris Velocity, and Iris iQ200; conduct calibrations, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance as needed.
- Prepare specimens, verify sample integrity, and execute pre-analytical processing according to standard procedures; ensure accurate labeling and chain-of-custody for specimens.
- Enter and verify results in the laboratory information system (Beaker and AMS); communicate critical values to the appropriate clinician or unit per protocol.
- Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements; participate in quality assurance activities and proficiency testing; adhere to site-specific policies.
- Training and onboarding for a chemistry-focused role will occur on dayshift for 3–4 weeks; following onboarding, perform duties on the night shift as scheduled, including weekend rotations.
Requirements
- Active MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) certification or MLT from ASCP
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, with hematology and chemistry experience required
- Experience with the listed instruments and software is preferred
- Ability to work 8-hour night shifts on a 5x8 schedule and to participate in weekend rotations (every other Friday and Saturday night)
- Willingness to complete 3–4 weeks of dayshift training for the chemistry-focused role
- On-site orientation and ability to pass facility onboarding requirements
