Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside nursing care for PCU patients in a 36-bed unit, with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 4:1 to 6:1
- Monitor patient status, administer medications and IV therapies, and implement treatment plans per physician orders
- Perform ongoing assessments, document changes, and monitor neurological status using NIHSS
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and discharge planning; ensure accurate and timely documentation in the EMR (Epic)
- Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, escalate as needed, and educate patients and families about care and post-discharge needs
- Participate in unit responsibilities such as floating to other campus locations as required and maintaining unit competency
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Florida (or appropriate licensure for practice in FL)
- Minimum 2 years of PCU experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- EMR experience, preferably Epic
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; if no BSN, at least 5 years of acute care experience with degree accreditation on profile
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and to float to other units or campuses as needed
- Credentialing readiness: ensure all required demographics and documentation are available at submittal (address, email, date of birth, SSN, RN license number, etc.)
- RTO requests must be listed on submission; no approvals after submission
