Responsibilities
- Deliver prescribed radiotherapy to patients using TrueBeam, ARIA, and Identify under the direction of the radiation oncology team.
- Prepare patient setup, positioning, immobilization, and verification of treatment fields; document delivery in EPIC.
- Monitor patients during treatment sessions and report observed reactions or changes to the supervising physicians and staff.
- Maintain accurate EPIC charting of treatment delivery, patient status, and any deviations from the plan.
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, medical physicists, and dosimetry staff; participate in safety checks and unit QA as needed.
- Float within the hospital to support coverage within the radiotherapy practice and related duties, as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- NY State license: Active, permanent NY license in hand prior to starting; temporary licenses not accepted.
- Certifications: ARRT certification; NYS Radiation Technologist licensure in the Practice of Radiotherapy.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in radiation therapy delivery; travel experience preferred but not required.
- Education: Completed program for Radiologic Technologist; licensure and certification requirements as stated.
- Additional: BLS certification; EPIC experience required; references; ability to work in a hospital Radiation Oncology setting; charting proficiency with EPIC.
Compliance and onboarding notes
- Local residency restriction: Permanent address within 50 miles of Saratoga is not accepted. Excluded NY counties include Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, and Ulster.
- References required; SSN and DOB will be requested for compliance.
- Onboarding modules: HealthStream/onboarding modules must be completed by 7 a.m. the Wednesday prior to start; estimated 10–12 hours.
- Vaccines: COVID-19 vaccines not required; Flu vaccine required during flu season; documentation due two weeks prior to start for exemptions.
- Perm staff restriction: Permanent facility staff must be separated for one year before returning as a traveler.
