Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel) in Lewiston, ME. Start date May 18, 2026 for a 13-week assignment. Weekly pay range: $2,673 per week to $2,779 per week. Shift: Nights, 4x12s (7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.). Setting: inpatient Med/Surgical and Post-Surgical care on an acute-care unit. This travel assignment requires the nurse to provide direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process and to be prepared to function in a charge nurse capacity when needed.

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct and indirect patient care on the Med/Surgical/Post-Surgical unit using the nursing process; assess patients on admission and throughout the stay, updating plans with patients and caregivers as needed.
- Administer IV medications, IV therapy, and blood and components in accordance with clinical standards and policies.
- Monitor patient status, respond to changes, perform ongoing assessments, and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team; document findings and communicate with physicians as appropriate.
- Provide patient and family education, participate in discharge planning, and support caregivers in the care plan.
- Maintain competency to serve as charge nurse when required, including supervision of staff, prioritizing care, ensuring safety, and accurate documentation.
- Demonstrate and maintain competency in the application of restraints and seclusion when indicated, including monitoring and reassessment per policy; ensure timely documentation.
Requirements
- Current registered nurse license (as applicable to the assignment) and ability to practice in the listed setting
- BLS certification required
- 1 year of nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work Night shift (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.) and 4x12-hour shifts
- No licensure hits on record; candidates with licensure actions will not be considered
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the assignment location
- Willing and able to function as charge nurse when assigned
