Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult and geriatric CVICU patients, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care per standards of nursing practice.
- Monitor hemodynamics and cardiac status; interpret rhythms, respond to changes, administer medications, and support post-open heart surgery recovery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in rounds, and coordinate care across services; document in the Epic electronic health record.
- Manage devices and postsurgical support (including Impella and balloon pumps when applicable), including monitoring devices, alarms, and sheath/line care per protocol.
- Educate patients and families, facilitate discharge planning, and ensure continuity of care and safety through adherence to infection control and quality standards.
- Maintain current skills through the specialty’s competency expectations and contribute to practice improvement and care environment enhancements.

Requirements
- Minnesota RN license (state license required)
- BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC) required
- 1+ year of RN experience (required)
- Experience with fresh open heart surgery patients (required)
- Interpretation of cardiac rhythms (required)
- Epic experience (required)
- Adult and geriatric population experience (required)
- Experience with Impella and balloon pumps (preferred)
- Experience with Epic EHR and a current skills checklist (required)
- 2 supervisory references with dates employed (required)
- All RTO requests must be included at time of submittal
