Responsibilities
- Perform quality control measures on nuclear medicine equipment and devices, troubleshoot as needed, and maintain quality management programs for procedures.
- Confer with physicians to determine appropriate procedures; document all operations including receipt and disposition of radiopharmaceuticals, quality control data, patient procedures, and medical records.
- Exercise professional judgment in scheduling and performing examinations to ensure compliance with established guidelines; identify opportunities to improve workflow and patient satisfaction.
- Provide clinical instruction for Radiology students and residents; stay current with developments in nuclear medicine by attending seminars, reading professional journals, and maintaining licensure.
- Maintain compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and program requirements; develop internal controls to support adherence to state/federal laws and accreditation standards.
- Administer intramuscular and intravenous injections and establish IV lines as needed; operate gamma cameras (including SPECT/CT and PET/CT), nuclear medicine computers, and cardiac stress equipment; possess basic knowledge of nuclear medicine therapeutic treatments and cardiac EKG for studies.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, physicians, nurses, residents, and patients to ensure efficient information flow; participate in ongoing staff education and knowledge sharing.
- On-call schedule as determined by the facility; participate in weekend and after-hours coverage as required by the assignment.
Requirements
- Licenses: Active Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) license from the Texas Medical Board (permanent or temporary).
- Certification: Current ARRT with Nuclear Medicine (N) or CNMT certification; must be in good standing and within 6 months of hire.
- Education/Experience: Minimum 24 months of current Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience; Siemens and Spectrum Imaging experience highly preferred.
- Documentation: Resume required; 2 supervisory references from within the last year; proof of taxable address (driver’s license, utility bill, lease/rental agreement, mortgage statement, etc.); Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and American Heart Association BLS certifications; must disclose any previous Parkland employment history in profile.
- Skills: Ability to administer injections and start IVs; proficient with gamma cameras (SPECT/CT, PET/CT), nuclear medicine computers, and cardiac stress equipment; basic knowledge of nuclear medicine therapeutic treatments; basic EKG knowledge for cardiac studies.
- On-site requirements: Ability to work in a hospital-based nuclear medicine department and to participate in on-call coverage as defined by the facility.
